Mashiur Rahman Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattogram Range Mashiur Rahman has been been placed on a seven-day remand in a murder case filed with New Market Police Station in Dhaka. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court passed the remand order on Friday (September 20) afternoon. Earlier in the afternoon, he was put on the dock of the court.
At that time, the investigation officer of the case pleaded to the court to place the accused on a 10-day remand. After the hearing, the court granted police a seven-day remand for the accused. The Detective Branch of police arrested Mashiur from Chittagong on Thursday (September 19).
Then he was brought in Dhaka. There are eight murder cases pending against Mashiur. Mashiur had worked at the Detective Branch (DB) for a long time.
He served as the deputy commissioner of Lalbagh Zone of DB and then got promotion to the additional DIG post. After the fall of Awami League government on August 5 last, Mashiur was transferred as police super to the Chittagong Range of DIG Office from Dhaka. This much-talked about police official achieved the President's Police Medal (PPM) in 2013, and Bangladesh Police Medals in 2015 and 2019.
