BBC Radio 2 issues huge presenter announcement as Sara Cox replaced

The comedian, who previously competed on Strictly Come Dancing, is now set to join the roster at BBC Radio 2.

BBC Radio 2 has announced that comedian and actor Ellie Taylor will be joining the station as a guest presenter, stepping in for Sara Cox on the teatime slot next Monday and Tuesday. The news was confirmed in an official post on the station’s Instagram , which featured Taylor chatting with Scott Mills during a visit to the studio. The caption read: "New presenter alert! Comedian @elliejanetaylor popped in to chat with Scott about joining the Radio 2 family.

" Taylor, who is known for her role as Sassy in the Emmy-winning Apple TV series Ted Lasso, also took to Instagram to share her excitement. She posted a screenshot from her live broadcast, writing: "Thanks for all your lovely messages about my chat with Scott! Delighted to be joining the BBC Radio 2 family! In for Sara on teatime next Monday and Tuesday." She followed up with a short video about how much the opportunity means to her.

"It’s been on my vision list - if I could be bothered to make a vision board," she joked. Taylor continued: "It's been in my head, I've wanted to do it for so long. I'm so excited that I'm going to be on such an iconic radio station.

I mean honestly I've been listening to Radio 2 since I was a kid so I'm just thrilled. I can't wait to be in your ears at tea time on Monday and Tuesday next week." She comedian also shared that she will be returning to the station multiple times throughout the year, laughing, "I hope I don’t push the wrong button!" The 40-year-old first rose to fame in 2012 when she replaced Jenny Frost as host of BBC Three’s makeover series Snog Marry Avoid.

Since then, she has built a successful comedy career on stage and screen, which included two appearances on Live At The Apollo. Taylor also took a turn on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022, where she made it to Week 10 with her professional partner Johannes Radebe. Speaking about her experience on Strictly to the Express previously, Taylor reflected: "It was all challenging, to be honest, but all the best things in life are.

I’m so glad I did the show. I look back on it incredibly fondly." The comedian will be joining talented co-stars Scott Mills, Trevor Nelson, and Zoe Ball as part of the BBC Radio 2 roster.
