A woman from California dies after getting bitten by a bat in the classroom while she was trying to scoop it up and put it outside safely. A 60-year-old art teacher from California died after getting bitten by a bat in the classroom. California health officials have confirmed that she was infected with rabies infection one month after the incident.

As per the Public Health Department, the woman was bitten by a bat in Merced County, California. The deceased was later identified as 60-year-old Leah Seneng, a teacher at Byrant Middle School in Dos Palos Laura Splotch. The woman got bitten by a bat when she was trying to scoop it up an take it outside safely.



The woman reportedly did not suffer form any symptoms in the days following the attack. But, after a month she fell ill and her daughter took her to the hospital where she was immediately put into a coma. Four days later, on November 22nd, Seneng died.
