A council will be seeking reassurances that mitigation will be put in place should more workers be needed to build the new Sizewell C nuclear power station after studying a report into another nuclear site. A study has been published into the impact of the development of the new Hinkley Point C power station in Somerset, which aims to help local authorities understand how the construction of a nuclear power station can affect their area. And Suffolk county councillor Richard Rout, chair of the New Nuclear Local Authorities Group, said there could be lessons to be learned for Sizewell C.

"We will be looking for reassurances and strong monitoring mechanisms to ensure that, should an increase of the maximum workforce at Sizewell become likely, additional mitigation is in place before this occurs.” The report Hinkley Point C Peak Construction: Impacts Monitoring and Auditing Study (2023-24) was led by Professor John Glasson at Oxford Brookes University.
