Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler recently spoke out on the prospect of facing Fallon Sherrock at the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship. Sherrock, affectionately known as the 'Queen of the Palace', is set to take on Ryan Meikle in the tournament's first round next month. Should she win, a mouthwatering clash against last year's finalist awaits her, and Littler, one of the sport's rising stars, enters directly into the second round, avoiding the opening games that the top 32 players are exempt from.
Reflecting on the draw's excitement, the Premier League champion didn't hide his admiration for Sherrock, who made headlines in 2019 by becoming the first woman to win a match at the world championship and astonishingly progressed to the third round. Watching as a 12 year old, Littler recalled how "it was incredible to watch" Sherrock's historic feat. Talking to Sky Sports, the now 17 year old anticipated what it could be like to face her, saying: "If I do come across her, I don't know what the crowd would be like.
Against Fallon, it might be a bit different. I don't think anyone really missed it [when Sherrock reached the third round]. It was incredible to watch.
" Almost a year after his own extraordinary performance at the tournament, Littler confessed he's feeling the "buzz" as he eagerly awaits to make his return to Ally Pally. He commented on the forthcoming match, saying: "Good luck to them both. It should be a really interesting game, because Ryan's playing really good, and so is Fallon.
"It won't be easy [against either of them]. No game will be easy this year, but it'll be a tough test for both of them facing each other in the first round. Either way, I'm very confident, whoever wins.
I just can't wait to get on stage. Ever since the Worlds [last year] it has been crazy – this is where it all started for me. The buzz is there, I can feel it.
", reports the Mirror . Sherrock, who hasn’t gone beyond the first round in her last three world championships, is undoubtedly aiming for better fortune on her fourth attempt next month, which could see her face off with the young star. .
Sherrock shared her draw outcome on X (formerly known as Twitter), excitedly posting: "So I now know I'll be playing Ryan Meikle in round one at the @OfficialPDC World Championship," and adding, "The winner will play a certain Mr Littler in round two. Can't wait to play at the Palace again.".
