CHENNAI: A migrant worker was electrocuted after he came in contact with a snapped live cable at Muthialpet on Saturday. The deceased man was identified as Chandan, a native of Odisha. Police said Chandan, who was employed at a private showroom in Parrys, stayed at the residential quarters allotted to the workers.
Chandan met his fate when he went to draw cash from an ATM kiosk near his house in Broadway. He walked closer to the platform to reach the ATM. As he pushed the ATM kiosk door, he lost control of himself and held an iron pole next to an EB post, unknowingly coming into contact with live power leaking from it.
As a result, Chandan was thrown onto the road soon after he was electrocuted. The onlookers rescued Chandan, and he was rushed to the Government Hospital , where the doctors examined and declared him brought dead. The Muthialpet police registered a case.
