NEW DELHI: In another major drugs haul, Indian Navy intercepted two fishing vessels with 500kg of crystal meth in Arabian Sea. Indian Navy swung into action after its Sri Lankan counterpart passed on information earlier this week that two Sri Lankaflagged vessels were suspected to be smuggling narcotics, an officer said on Friday. Extensive aerial surveillance by P-8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft as well as drones, based on inputs from Sri Lankan Navy and Information Fusion Centre (Indian Ocean Region) at Gurugram, managed to locate the two vessels on the high seas.

With two Indian warships also being deployed, the two vessels were subsequently intercepted and the naval boarding teams found the drugs on board. “The two vessels, along with crew and seized narcotics, are being handed over to Sri Lankan authorities for further legal action,” the officer said..
