If you’re hoping to see anyone from the Until Dawn game in the new movie, adjust your expectations: only one character has made the crossover to the big screen. Directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, the Shazam movies), the film follows Clover (Ella Rubin) and her friends as they try to figure out what happened to her missing sister.
Their investigation leads them to an empty house in a remote valley, where they get stuck in a deathly, grisly time loop. It’s based on the 2015 PlayStation game , which revolved around an entirely different story and set of characters, as well as a different location – oh, and it doesn’t have any sort of time loop mechanic. So, the movie adaptation is a bit different from the source material, but it isn’t ignoring the game altogether.
This Until Dawn character appears in the movie Peter Stormare’s Dr Hill returns in the Until Dawn movie. It’s hard to explain why and how he’s been written into the story without getting into spoilers, but let’s just say: it’s not a mere cameo. During a Reddit AMA, writer-producer Gary Dauberman confirmed: “It’s the same Dr.
Hill from the game. I’m not quite sure how to answer your other questions without getting into spoilers..
. but broadly speaking, his role in the movie is just as crucial as it was in the game. “I know that’s not as satisfactory of an answer as you’d like.
If you want to get more specific with your question maybe I can get more specific with my answer (or maybe not, depending...

While the film has been met with some reservations, Stormare assured fans that it “completely honors the spirit of the game.
” “I’m so excited to be part of this film, because the whole thing is a love letter to horror...
the movie is gonna be full of fresh characters and victims in a brand-new story loaded with twists,” he said. “Whether you’re a longtime fan or you’re discovering it for the first time, get ready for Until Dawn like you’ve never seen it before.” Why Until Dawn is so different from the game The director of Until Dawn didn’t want to simply adapt the game into a film, because the game is already like an interactive movie.
Speaking to Collider , Sandberg explained: “That’s what I loved so much about the script when I read it, was that it didn’t just try to do the game again. Because again, the game is the closest thing that I’ve played to an interactive movie, but it pretty much is already a 10-hour movie. “To cut it down to two hours or something, it’s just never going to be the same thing.
“I thought it was really brilliant to have this resetting thing built into the movie so you can still get that thing you have with the game where you play it over and over again and make different choices so you get to see different deaths. I thought that was a brilliant way to keep that in movie form in a movie that’s not interactive.” That’s why the film ended up going for a different story, so don’t expect to see Rami Malek or Hayden Panettiere (although, maybe we’ll see a wendigo or two).
