rapplerAds.displayAd( "mobile-middle-1" );MANILA, Philippines – At least ten more Filipinos arrived in the Philippines on Sunday, April 20, from Cambodia as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) further warned against “deceptive job opportunities” posted on the internet. The Filipino workers came from the Oddar Meanchey province and were brought back to the country following a coordinated repatriation effort between the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh and Cambodian law enforcement authorities.



They joined 26 other Filipinos who were earlier repatriated on April 16. According to DFA, the workers made “official representations with the Cambodian government for their release from a company” in the province nine hours away from the Cambodian capital. The repatriated Filipinos were received at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.

They were also provided assistance.DFA, in its statement, expressed gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its cooperation and swift action in responding to the Philippines’ request. It also urged the Filipino public to be cautious of deceptive overseas job opportunities on social media “which could bring miserable, even harmful outcomes in some cases.

”“The Philippine Foreign Service urges prudence and discernment among Filipino online job seekers,” DFA said in an advisory on Sunday. “Tumulong po tayong pigilan mauwi sa kapahamakan ang ating kapwa Pilipino. (Let us help prevent our fellow Filipinos from ending up in harm’s way).
