Addressing a press release at the Police Lines, the CPO said that the main culprit identified as Kamran Sajjad was a tiktoker and he wanted to increase his viewership by record the incident of rioting at the KFC restaurant. The police chief further said that one of the arrested man is a contract employee of WAPDA.

Appreciating the Cantonment police, the CP said they arrested the suspects in 48 hours of the incident. The police used human intelligence and CCTV footage to indentify the attackers and arrested them. The manger of the food outlet filed the complaint with the police alleging that 10 to 12 persons armed with sticks and baseball bats entered the dining area at about 8:30pm and started raising slogans and abusing the families present at the outlet.



He said that when he and other staff tried to stop them, they started abusing them and threatened to kill them. The police had registered the case for criminal intimidation, rioting while armed with deadly weapons, and unlawful assembly for common purpose. To protect all international food outlets in the city, the police had increased the security and surveillance of the outlets.

He said that to protest was a democratic right of all citizens but there were civilized ways to register the protest. He added that no one could be allowed to put the city on fire in the name of protest.

The CPO said that a similar incident took place a few days ago in Waris Khan area. The police controlled the situation peacefully and engaged the religious scholars to calm the nerves. Reiterating to main law and order in the city, CPO Hamdani said that it was not acceptable that some hooligans enter a restaurant and harass and abuse the dining families.

The CPO said that the arrested men would be produce before a court of law and solid incriminating evidence would be submitted against the culprits. He warned that if similar incidents took place again, the police would register cases under terrorism laws.
