Vadodara: Twenty-three tourists who were present in Kashmir when the Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22 returned to the city on Saturday afternoon. They requested help from elected representatives in the city to ensure that they returned home safely. Most of these 23 tourists were from the eastern parts of the city.
They travelled to various locations in Kashmir and were in Srinagar when the Pahalgam attack took place. Many of them had visited Pahalgam a day before the attack. While the group had booked their return tickets by train, they were unable to board it as they could not travel from Srinagar to Jammu to board their train.
They told the elected representatives that the state was observing a ‘bandh' to mourn the terror attack and no transport was available. "We visited the location where the terror attack took place a day before the incident. We thanked God that we were not harmed.
We had to seek help from leaders and eventually MP Dr Hemang Joshi ensured that we got reservations in a train to return," Jyoti Parmar told media persons. She went on the tour with her mother, sister, and friends. Corporator from Waghodiya-Dabhoi Ring Road, Snehal Patel, said that the group included residents from her locality and hence they contacted her.
"They were safe in Srinagar, but were finding it difficult to return home. Eventually, they managed to reach Jammu from where they boarded the train. I contacted the MP to help the group and he ensured that they got reservations and any other help they needed," said Patel.
