AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three Longhorns and three high school players verbally committed to Texas are sprinkled in new rankings of top Major League Baseball draft prospects.Max Belyeu, Jared Spencer and Jalin Flores are the current Longhorns on Jonathan Mayo's latest list of top 150 draft prospects on MLB.com.

Belyeu is recovering from thumb surgery and hasn't played since late March against Missouri, but Mayo has the power-hitting corner outfielder as his No. 28 draft prospect.No.

1 Texas sweeps Lone Star Showdown series over Texas A&M with another 1-run winMayo called Belyeu "one of the best all-around offensive players in the college crop." Longhorns head coach Jim Schlossnagle hopes to have Belyeu back by postseason play, but Texas has found a way to keep winning ballgames without its biggest offensive weapon.Although out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury, Spencer is No.

79 on the list. His draft status is up in the air after he needed surgery for the injury, Mayo said. Spencer was 4-1 with a 3.

He's hitting .276 with 10 home runs, 18 doubles and a .552 slugging percentage.

One of Texas' most prized recruits sits at No. 15, San Antonio Johnson's Kayson Cunningham. He's been seen as a potential first-round pick in the middle infield for a while now, and Mayo compares him to former Texas recruit Jett Williams, chosen No.

14 overall by the Mets in 2022. Mayo thinks Cunningham is "perhaps the best pure hitter in the 2025 prep class."Cunningham was named USA Baseball's high school player of the year April 24.

Texas’ path to the top of the polls began at the top of the moundGavin Fien, a third baseman from Great Oak High School in Temecula, California, checks in a slot below Belyeu at No. 29. His older brother, Dylan, was a seventh-round pick by the Athletics in last year's draft, and scouts think Gavin will be selected earlier.

Fien's bat will get him drafted high, Mayo said, and if he doesn't play third base moving forward, he could shift to first or a corner outfield spot.Brett Crossland is the last Texas recruit on the list at No. 86.

A 6-foot-6, 245-pound right-handed pitcher out of Mountain Pointe HS in Phoenix, Arizona, Crossland throws his fastball consistently in the mid-90s while topping out around 98 mph. At No. 58 on the list is Johnson City's Johnny Slawinski.

He verbally committed to Texas A&M, and a lefty throwing 95 mph at the Class 2A level is rare. He's racked up more than 400 strikeouts in his high school career and had 17 Ks against Harper on April 22. He also homered in the game.

The 2025 MLB first-year player draft is set for July 14-16 in Atlanta..
