A few thunderstorms possible to start the week

Rain continues to move into the region, and we have two rounds of thunderstorms possible, with the second bringing stronger storms.

We start the week with some stormy April weather for much of the Northland. Parts of the region will wake up to rumbles of thunder, and with these storms, you could see some areas get hail up to 1 inch in diameter. These storms will continue to slide off toward the Arrowhead, eventually transitioning to more steady rain by the afternoon.

However, in the afternoon, we're tracking the greater risk for much of the region, particularly south of the Twin Ports. All hazards for severe weather are likely, with storms starting to the west around 2-4 pm and moving east. It will be important to make sure you can receive warnings, as these storms will linger for much of the afternoon, with the greatest tornado risk being to the south of Duluth.

When this system is wrapped up, we are tracking widespread rain totals of around 1 inch, with some areas in the heavier showers potentially reaching 2 inches. After the storms move out, though, we then stay drier through the middle of the week.
