Dressing for springtime weather on the western Prairies can prove tough on the best of days. Thankfully, the weather should rebound in time for voters to head to the polls in Monday’s election .
DON’T MISS: Canada’s election day forecast holds storms and sunshine A classic spring Saturday stumbles by Sunday Much like we saw throughout the province on Friday, a burst of warm weather will build across Alberta through the day on Saturday. High pressure over the region will allow for abundant sunshine that’ll help to push temperatures to the 20-degree mark through Saturday afternoon. We’re on the lookout for daytime highs reaching an even 20°C in Lethbridge, Calgary , Red Deer, and Edmonton , with slightly warmer conditions possible to the south and east.
MUST SEE: Lingering frost threatens gardens across much of Canada Enjoy it while it lasts. A sharp pattern change will sweep over the western Prairies to close out the weekend, bringing folks across Alberta a 15-degree temperature drop between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s high of 20°C in Red Deer will slip to just 5°C by Sunday, with conditions only a few degrees warmer up in Edmonton and down in Calgary.
Only communities in the south and east—including Lethbridge and Medicine Hat —will be able to hold on to their warmth an extra day. Precipitation will accompany the temperature change. We’ll see rain push into Edmonton on Sunday morning, with the precipitation sliding south through the day and into the evening hours.
Snow is possible throughout the day in the foothills and in the alpine regions, but Calgary and Red Deer should stay all rain. Snowy conditions could affect travel along portions of the Trans-Canada at higher elevations. Stay with The Weather Network for your latest forecast throughout Alberta.
