The A14 eastbound between J34 and J35 remains closed this morning (April 23) after a multi-vehicle crash first reported at 9.25pm last night (April 22).

A diversion is in place along the road while Cambridgeshire Police carry out investigation work. Inrix, the traffic monitoring site, says the diversion is in place via the A10 to Stretham and back to the A14 at Newmarket . In the crash, one person died in a car , and three others in the same car suffered serious injuries.

Cambridgeshire Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Cambridge, who was driving a lorry, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody. National Highways says the road is not expected to be open until “early afternoon” while police carry out “complex investigation work”.
