WHAT a finale could be in store in the North East Wales Girls League’s U16s section. Topping the Blue Division at present are Acton U15s, but wins from their two games in hand from Brymbo Lodge will move them to within a point of their rivals. That would set up a thrilling title decider between the title chasers on May 10, with Acton having home advantage.
Lodge maintained their title aims with a 2-0 home triumph over Brickfield Rangers, confirmed by Talitha Prydden and Imogen Powell. Meanwhile, Lexi Weaver and Chloe Ridley made sure of Acton’s 2-1 outcome against Corwen, who made a real game of it through Millie Roberts. Northop Hall climbed into the top-three on the back of a 5-2 success at home to Flint Town United, with Kacey Roberts (3), Lexie Butcher and Macy Jones sharing the goals.
Gabrielle Charlton and Lucie Bamford replied for Flint. In the Red Division, Lily Davies’ effort made sure of Northop Hall Jets U15s’ win versus Airbus. The New Saints preserved their 100 per cent winning record thanks to a 3-0 outcome at Buckley Town U15s.
Brickfield Rangers maintained their push for the U14s’ title via a double-figure success versus Ruthin Town, with Annabelle Griffiths scoring eight and Amelia Wilkinson claiming five goals. Imogen Carman and Ellie Walton were also on the scoresheet. Hawarden Park are four points away from claiming the U13s’ crown following their double-figure outcome against FC Brickfield, who had Ellie Roscoe on the mark.
Santi Owen, Mia Pryce, Isla Richards, Haf Eldridge and Faye Al-Dulayymi shared the efforts for the league leaders. Poppy Cole-Jones and Layla Griffiths struck for Mynydd Isa in a 4-2 reverse at Ruthin, who benefited from Nena Hilditch-Roberts’ hat-trick. Northop Hall Jets, the U12s’ Red Division champions, claimed a thrilling 4-3 triumph against Mynydd Isa.
Doubles from Maisie Esp and Amelia Phillips sealed the deal, as Eva Cartwright (2) and Isabel Melia made a real game of it. Northop Hall Falcons are favourites for the Blue Division prize after they got the better of title rivals Saughall Panthers 6-2. Four-goal Ella Wilson-Davis was the star performer for Falcons, who also saw Poppy Jenkins score twice.
Bradley Sammia and MJ Mwashita grabbed Panthers’ responses..
