Advance voter turnout in this Calgary riding was among the highest in the country

More than 270,000 Calgarians cast their ballots for the federal election early this year – with one riding seeing some of the highest advance voter turnout in the country. Elections Canada released more advance polling data on Thursday, breaking down how many ballots were cast in each electoral district. Throughout Calgary-area ridings, 270,567 ballots were cast.

According to Elections Canada data, Calgary Crowfoot had the fourth highest number of advance voters in the country, with 33,743 ballots cast. Here’s how many votes were cast in each Calgary riding: The Calgary votes account for 33 per cent of Alberta’s 815,131 total in advance polls. Notably, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s Ottawa-area riding of Carleton saw the most advance voters in the country, with 43,394 people voting early.



Across the country, a record 7.3 million Canadians voted at advance polls between April 18 and 21. Visit Elections Canada’s website for a full list of advance polling data by electoral district.

Elections Canada notes these are preliminary estimates. Election day is on Monday, April 28. Advance polls have closed and the deadline to apply to vote by mail has passed.

Canadians can vote at their assigned polling station on election day. Polls will be open in the Mountain Time Zone from 7:30 a.m.
