An African Development Bank team has launched a strategic dialogue mission in Algiers this Sunday with the Algerian authorities, in preparation for the Country Strategy Paper (CSP) for the 2025–2030 period.Led by Lassaad Lachaal, the Bank’s Country Manager in Algeria, the mission will continue through 17 April. It marks the beginning of a collaborative process to define the Bank’s strategic directions for supporting Algeria over the next five years.
“This mission is a critical step in strengthening the partnership between the African Development Bank and Algeria. It will help us jointly identify priority areas for action to support the country on its path toward more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth,” Mr. Lachaal emphasized.
Inclusiveness is central to this initiative: in addition to consultations with national authorities, the Bank’s delegation will engage with representatives from the private sector, civil society, development partners, and other key stakeholders. The objective is to gather data and insights necessary to design a relevant and well-aligned strategy that supports Algeria’s ambitions to diversify its economy, which remains heavily reliant on hydrocarbons.In a context marked by significant economic, social, and environmental challenges, the Bank seeks to align its support with Algeria’s national priorities while integrating its five operational priorities—the “High 5s”—and the Bank Group’s 2024–2033 Ten-Year Strategy.
Through this initiative, the African Development Bank reaffirms its commitment to supporting Algeria’s efforts toward economic diversification, job creation, and ecological transition, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.As of 28 March 2025, the Bank’s active portfolio in Algeria includes three technical assistance operations with a total commitment of approximately $ 2.28 million (UA 1.
