FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association invites the public to come to the Solano Town Center Gallery to see the new show, "April Showers," featuring Spotlight Artist Alex Padilla. The show runs through May 26. Gallery hours are 11 a.
m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday through Sunday, on the second floor of Solano Town Center, 1350 Travis Blvd. Padilla – not the U.S.
senator – has a collection of acrylic paintings and mixed media artwork displayed throughout the gallery. He is a self-taught artist who is inspired by the freedom of the creative process. Padilla enjoys working in the mixed media arena using oils, acrylic, inks, graphite, charcoal and paper on canvas and wood.
His artwork is influenced by artists from the New York School of Art, such as Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, as well as Dali and Picasso. He joined the FSVAA in October 2023 to be part of a large art community where he could meet other artists and have opportunities to exhibit his artwork. Padilla has participated in local events like Art on the Vine, The Crush-Open Studios, the Fall into ARTumn at Fairfield Arts and the downtown Fairfield Art Walk on the third Friday of each month.

While visiting the Solano Town Center Gallery you will have the opportunity to compete in the FSVAA Scavenger Hunt. People that compete in the Scavenger Hunt will receive an FSVAA ink pen, and their entry will be entered into a drawing for an FSVAA Gift Certificate on the last day of the show. The public is invited to vote for a favorite art piece.
On the last day of the show, the art piece with the most votes will receive the "People’s Choice Award." An artist reception, and poetry reading, is set for 4 to 6 p.m.
