BBC audiences are in for a treat next month as Alison Hammond presents her new venture, Alison Hammond's Big Weekend. The programme promises to give viewers an insider's perspective into the lives of some prominent British celebrities, including Perrie Edwards, Spice Girls Mel B and Sir Lenny Henry. Alison is taking on a journey to understand these stars beyond the spotlight by visiting their homes, revealing insights into their personal journeys and histories.
Starting May 16, the opening episode will feature Alison exploring South Shields with Little Mix star Perrie Edwards. The synopsis describes: "All six celebrities open themselves up to Alison, sharing personal revelations, fun times, and the occasional tear as they show Alison the people and places that have shaped them into the stars they are today. "The show takes Alison across the UK as she asks the big questions viewers are dying to know - all in her unique and hilarious way that has made the star one of the country's most beloved TV personalities.
" Viewers can look forward to Alison traversing the breadth of the UK, posing those pressing queries fans are eager to have answered, all while delivering her signature brand of humor that has cemented her status as a treasured national treasure. In anticipation of the series debut, Alison couldn't hide her eagerness about the surprises in store for viewers, reports WalesOnline. She tantalisingly advised fans on what they can anticipate from the six-part series as she said:"Oh, babes, buckle up! Big Weekend is all about me getting celebs to have the juiciest, funniest, and sometimes most emotional chats.
"It's a full-blown experience! We're talking deep convos, belly laughs and spontaneous singalongs. From roller coasters with Mel B to ice baths with Jimmy Carr, this series is packed with surprises." Although the journey promises plenty of humour, Alison reveals some unexpectedly touching moments where celebrities show their vulnerable sides.
She added: "There's something about spending proper time with someone that makes people relax. "We had some deep chats, some absolute screamers, and even a few tears. Turns out, a weekend with Alison Hammond is basically therapy!" Names like Jimmy Carr, Tony Bellew, and Luke Evans are set to grace the BBC programme.
It seems it's not only Alison spreading her wings — fellow This Morning presenter Dermot O'Leary is at the helm of a fresh game show called Silence is Golden on U and UandDave. Studio audiences could walk away with a staggering £250,000 if they manage to keep their lips sealed while comedians do their level best to elicit a peep. Will silence prevail for the hopeful participants to share the treasure? Alison Hammond's Big Weekend airs on BBC One and iPlayer from Friday 16th May 8:30pm.
