An experienced school administrator and former Allentown teacher has been tapped to lead the new Ninth Grade Academy at Allen High School.Alicia Knauff is a former ESOL teacher and alternative education instructor at Allentown, and spent 15 years as assistant principal at Whitehall High School, where she oversaw the school’s transitional support program for ninth-grade students. Most recently, she was a leader at Steckel Elementary School in the Whitehall-Coplay School District.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Knauff back to Allentown,” Superintendent Carol D. Birks said in a statement.
“Dr. Knauff brings a wealth of experience and a clear vision for fostering academic excellence and personal growth. We look forward to the positive impact her leadership will have on the William Allen High School Ninth Grade Academy.
”The new Ninth Grade Academy is designed to provide a focused, supportive environment that addresses the academic, social-emotional and developmental needs of ninth-grade students.“This opportunity inspires me to cultivate a nurturing and rigorous learning environment where every ninth grader can thrive academically, experience personal growth, and establish a strong pathway to graduation and beyond,” Knauff said in a statement.In addition to Knauff, the Allentown school board approved the following administrative appointments during its meeting Thursday:Jesse Walck, executive director of financial planning.
Walck has more than a decade of financial management experience, most recently as business manager at the Panther Valley School District.Christine Swan, accounting manager. Swan has 10 years of experience in financial roles across the private and public sectors.
The board also made four interim principals permanent leaders at their schools. They are:Kristyn Senneca, Ruby Bridges Elementary SchoolTelsa Sparks, Ramos Elementary SchoolVashanna Fraser, Roosevelt Elementary SchoolJohn Paul Crescenzo, Muhlenberg Elementary School..
