Alynna Velasquez mourns Hajji Alejandro from afar

MANILA, Philippines — A post on Wednesday from singer Alynna Velasquez — Hajji Alejandro's partner for over two decades — suggested she has been barred from attending the late OPM icon's wake.Via video on Instagram, Velasquez showed that she visited Alejandro's star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame instead, where she offered flowers in his memory."I was unable to go to your wake for reasons I don't have control of. But I am glad I am here to pray for you and watch your star shine," she wrote in the caption, without explaining why she cannot go to Alejandro's wake."You truly are a legend and your wonderful music will live on forever," she added.Singer Alynna Velasquez visits Hajji Alejandro's star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame, where she offered flowers in his memory. PHOTO FROM INSTAGRAM/ALYNNAVVelasquez, however, expressed her grief and frustration in a series of Instagram stories, writing such sentiments as, "How could people be so mean to me when I am also grieving? God sees everything."Later, she also posted, "My heart always forgives..."While Velasquez didn't specify whom her posts were directed at, some social media users surmised she was referring to Alejandro's family. This assumption stems from her earlier public account of being at odds with them over how his illness was handled. When Alejandro's death was confirmed by the family on Tuesday, Velasquez expressed her sorrow on Instagram, sharing that her beloved passed away just a day before what would have been their 27th anniversary. She also hinted that they had remained apart until the final days of his life."My love, we spent the last 8 days of your life together. I am grateful to your kids Ali and Rachel for reaching out to me. I [had] been waiting. I [thought] of you every hour of every day."It can be remembered that in March, Velasquez appeared on broadcaster Julius Babao's YouTube channel, where she revealed that Alejandro had been battling stage 4 colon cancer. In the same interview, she disclosed that she had been separated from the singer after what she called "a complicated situation" involving his family, who had wanted to keep his illness private.Velasquez said she was blamed for making his condition known, although she maintained she had confided in just one person. As of press time, Rachel, the most publicly known of Alejandro's children, has yet to release a statement. Details about Alejandro's wake have not been made public.
