Ambassador of Estonia visits Kyrgyz Parliament

- Chairman of the Parliament's Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration Ulan Primov met with Ambassador of Estonia to Kyrgyzstan with residence in Astana Jaap Ora on April 21. The parties exchanged views on issues of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Estonia, and discussed further deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Primov said that the level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries does not correspond to the potential.

"Bilateral relations have not reached the expected level, but I am confident that our meeting will become the basis for their active development," he said. Focusing on inter-parliamentary cooperation, he expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Estonia, proposing to intensify the work of parliamentary friendship groups, organize regular mutual visits of parliamentarians, as well as joint events. Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, Ulan Primov noted that Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with Estonia is low, drawing attention to the importance of considering and signing the Agreement on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments between Kyrgyzstan and Estonia.



Jaap Ora expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres. The parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of digitalization, which is one of the active and fruitful areas of Kyrgyz-Estonian relations..
