Botan Ameen said that he is not sure whether his future will lie at Swindon Town after scoring his first league goal against Grimsby Town. Coming on as a late substitute at Blundell Park, Ameen got a moment to remember as he dispatched Tunmise Sobowale’s cross to notch the first league goal of his career six days before turning 18. The development of the young attacker has got plenty of people excited, leading to Championship and Premier League clubs keeping tabs on his development.

Ian Holloway met with Ameen’s parents before the Bradford City match last week to explain how he believed remaining at Swindon would be in his best interests. After the Grimsby game, Ameen said that he was interested in remaining at Swindon, but would not rush making a key decision for his future.
He said: “[Has there been any definitive choice made on your future?] Honestly, not yet. “With my agent and everyone who is representing me has had some back and forth with the club talking about the contract. “I genuinely don’t know what is going to happen with my future.
“Obviously, it would be a pleasure to sign on [with Swindon], but there are technicalities here and there. “We don’t know what the future holds, but it is definitely an exciting time for my future. “Whatever decision I am going to make will be the right one, I am never going rush a decision or make a decision if I don’t know whether it will be a good one.
” The ability to play regular first-team football at Swindon is a key part of Holloway’s pitch to keep Ameen. The Iraq youth international also said that he believed the number of games he has been getting at Swindon have been crucial in him making the progress he has in the last year. He said: “The minutes that I get, you have to work for them, but at the same time, it is important for me to be given these minutes.
“It is vital for my development. I am only 17, so I need to be getting minutes and be tested physically and psychologically in big games like these, where we are trying to push for the playoffs. “It felt really good to score in front of the away fans.
“I have been working towards getting moments like these; the journey I have been on and the progress that I have made has been a pleasure to experience. “Hopefully, I can kick on even more and score some more goals for Swindon. I have got three games left this season, so I would like to add to my stats.
“I have got a goal and two assists in the league, so hopefully there are many more to come.”.
