Amorepacific has developed a new evaluation system for systematically analyzing skin aging and has demonstrated the skin anti-aging effects of its key ingredient, Ginsenomics, as announced on April 25. This research finding was published last month in the online edition of the international journal, Journal of Ginseng Research. In recent aging research, "inflammaging" has emerged as a significant issue.
This term refers to a chronic low-grade inflammatory state that persists with age, characterized by an increase in inflammatory substances called cytokines, leading to various declines in bodily functions and diseases. The skin is also affected by this inflammation, resulting in accelerated aging and structural changes such as collagen loss and weakened skin barriers. Amorepacific's R&I Center established a complex stimulation-based aging model using Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and ultraviolet B (UVB) to precisely analyze the internal and external factors affecting skin aging.
The study found that simultaneous stimulation from IL-17A and UVB intensified the inflammatory response in the skin and accelerated aging phenomena in the epidermis. Through this system, Amorepacific scientifically confirmed that Ginsenomics, a highly concentrated rare saponin ingredient, effectively inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and improves the functions of aging-damaged skin. Seo Byeong-hwi, CTO of Amorepacific's R&I Center, stated, "This research is significant as it establishes a system for comprehensively evaluating the complex factors affecting skin aging and proves the efficacy of Ginsenomics.
We will continue to lead advancements in skin science." Ginsenomics is Amorepacific's representative research achievement, which involves the bio-conversion technology that concentrates a small amount of the saponin ingredient Compound K extracted from ginseng by 6,000 times. The company actively utilizes this ingredient as a core component in its major skincare brands.
