Andor’s Adria Arjona Says Filming Sexual Assault Scene in Season 2 ‘Was Challenging’

Photo Credit: Disney+Actress Adria Arjona, who portrays mechanic and black market dealer Bix Caleen in the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor, stated in a new interview that filming the sexual assault scene in Season 2 Episode 3 was “challenging.” In the episode, Bix and other Ferrix refugees are taking shelter on a planet when the Imperial force arrives. She encounters Imperial lieutenant Krole (Alex Waldmann), who apparently arrived on the planet to perform an audit.

He claims that he is aware that Bix is an “illegal” before demanding sex in exchange for her freedom. When Bix refuses, Krole tries to force himself on her, prompting her to fight tooth and nail for herself.Adria Arjona credits Andor Season 2 director for smooth filming of sexual assault sceneArjona lauded episode director Ariel Kleiman for creating and maintaining an environment in which she and other cast members felt comfortable while shooting such a sensitive scene.



“We had an amazing stunt team and partner in Ari as a director, who shot that scene scientifically and in such a precise way so as to save us from doing a million takes,” the actress said. However, Andor is the first project set in the universe of the Jedi and the Sith to approach it with such explicitness.

Arjona noted that filming the scene “was challenging because everyone involved in the creation of that scene felt the importance of what this scene meant, not only for the show, but for Star Wars.”The Blink Twice actress underscored that she “felt incredibly safe and cushioned in the process of doing it” and credited series creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy for it. She elaborated, “He brings this mirror effect that [shows] the things that happen in our world can also happen in a galaxy far, far away.
