An Apollo man arrested earlier this month for attempting to break into an Armstrong County business elected Thursday to waive his right to a preliminary hearing in the case. The move by Jeff Albert Manchini, 46, prompted Leechburg Magisterial District Judge James Andring to bind that case over to the Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas. Manchini is charged with a second-degree felony of burglary — not adapted for overnight accommodation, no person present; a second-degree felony of criminal trespassing — breaking into a structure; and a third-degree felony of criminal mischief — damage property.
According to the affidavit of probable cause by state police at Troop D, Kittanning, Trooper Darren J. Rice, at approximately 3:30 a.m.
April 8, Manchini allegedly used two screwdrivers to break the glass pane of an Apollo business, previously identified by state police as the Apollo Trust Company building along North Warren Avenue. Manchini then allegedly entered into the vestibule and broke a single pane on another door. Manchini also allegedly damaged an electronic control panel in the vestibule.
Manchini remains in Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $20,000, pending further action by Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas.
