Apple is believed to be increasing the wired and MagSafe charging speeds for this year's iPhone 16 Pro models. ITHome reports that the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will support 40W wired and 20W MagSafe wireless charging to "balance and improve the problem of increasing charging time caused by the increase in battery capacity." An earlier rumour said that this year's iPhones – with the sole exception of the iPhone 16 Plus – will all get larger batteries.

To recap, the Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 models can support up to 27W wired and 15W MagSafe charging speeds. Hence, the rumoured boost in battery charging speed is certainly much welcome. It will also help Apple compete with other Android flagship phone models .

For example, t he Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has wired fast charging at 45W and 15W wireless charging, while the Oppo Reno11 Pro is capable of 80W wired fast charging. The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to be unveiled sometime in early September. Source: ITHome via MacRumors.
