Apple is set to expand its retail footprint in India with new stores planned in Noida’s Mall of India and Pune’s Kopa Mall, marking the second phase of its retail rollout in the country, according to sources. The company has finalized these two locations and is currently scouting for additional store sites in Bengaluru and Mumbai. This move follows the strong performance of Apple’s existing stores in Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Saket, which have exceeded expectations since their launch.

The move comes amid a significant surge in Apple’s performance in the Indian market, where iPhone sales have tripled since 2021 despite their premium pricing. Industry data shows Apple captured an 11% market share in India’s smartphone segment during the October–December quarter, placing it among the top five brands by sales for the first time. The company plans to shift about 25% of its global production to India, a move driven by high U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports imposed during the Trump administration.

As part of this shift, Apple has significantly ramped up local production, even chartering cargo flights to transport 600 tons of iPhones from India to the U.S., according to Reuters .

The company already manufactures all four iPhone 16 models, including the premium Pro versions, in India through partners like Foxconn, Wistron, Aequs, and Tata Electronics. Additionally, Apple is expected to begin assembling AirPods in the country soon, further deepening its local manufacturing presence.
