Apple has been working hard to move more of its iPhone production to India, especially after US President Donald Trump imposed heavy tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese exports. To avoid these high taxes, Apple reportedly shifted its focus to making iPhones in India for the US market. However, while this move will help the company, it may not be enough to completely move production out of China anytime soon.

Apple is reportedly developing two major new models to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone — including its first-ever foldable device and a Pro model with a design that uses more glass.
These upcoming models are said to be highly complex and will need new parts and specialised production techniques. Because of this, it’s very unlikely that the foldable iPhone and the new Pro model will be made in India, at least by 2027.
