Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has said that 55 transmission projects including the augmentation of ICT capacity and installation of additional bus reactors for reactive power management, worth ₹4,965 crore are in various stages of execution and poised to be commissioned in 2025-26 and over the next two financial years. “These projects represent a phased and strategic expansion of the State’s transmission infrastructure aimed at improving grid reliability and operational efficiency,” Mr.
Vijayanand, who is also the Special Chief Secretary (Energy), said in a review meeting on AP-Transco’s major infrastructure works in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Kadapa zones, on Friday. He said 18 transmission projects costing ₹1,095 crore have been successfully commissioned, and these projects play a vital role in enhancing the system capacity for power evacuation and meeting the rising energy demand. AP-Transco has recently placed orders for nearly 10 major projects costing ₹3,407 crore, including the diversion of 400 KV and 220 KV lines within the capital region.
Besides, tenders are being floated for 47 works worth ₹5,323 crore under various government schemes, he said. The AP-Transco is in the process of integrating advanced technologies such as SCADA systems and automation across substations to modernise its infrastructure and these upgrades are intended to enhance real-time monitoring, improve efficiency and minimize energy losses, he said. Growing consumption The State power utility is gearing up to meet the growing daily consumption, which is expected to reach 260 Million Units (MU) in the coming months.
