ORWIGSBURG — The Schuylkill League put up numbers when Blue Mountain hosted their annual invitational at the Eagles Nest Friday afternoon. Blue Mountain welcomed the likes of league foes Mahanoy Area, Marian, Nativity, Panther Valley, Pine Grove, Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven and Tamaqua as well as non-league opponents Jim Thorpe, Lincoln Leadership, Millersburg, Northern Lehigh, Pocono Mountain East, Salisbury Township, Southern Columbia, William Allen and Wilson Area. 90 seconds and Nolan Daynorowicz winning gold in the 800-meter run in 2:01.64.“We have a good time and stay loose as a team so it helps us compete better,” said Daynorowicz.

“We’re always cheering each other on during the meets so it’s good to see.”Alexa Giuffre showed out for Pottsville while taking gold in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, 4×400-meter relay and long jump.Pine Grove’s Viktorya Luckenbach won gold in the 100-meter dash in 11.

69 seconds as well as the 200-meter dash in 23.92 seconds.“We’re a smaller school so being able to compete with these bigger schools is a great thing for us,” said Luckenbach.

Blue Mountain’s Makayla Keck won big in the javelin with a throw of 148 feet, 4 inches.“It’s been big for me to get a season best because it’s been hard to get out of a mental block, it took a lot but I’m really happy with it,” said Keck.Other Eagles to take the podium included Blue Mountain’s Rafael Liranzo taking second place in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.

“I really want to get to states so that’s been pushing me and getting me better this season,” said Liranzo.Pottsville’s Evan Galavage got second in the 200- and 400-meter dashes and Schuylkill Haven’s Niko Carestia finished second in the 100-meter dash.“I’d like to throw the javelin 177 feet, that’s a school record, and run a 10.

87 in the 100-meter dash,” said Carestia of his outlook on the season.Carestia was joined by Schuylkill Haven’s Anna Schaeffer who got second in the 800-meter run in 2:22.25.
