Arlene A. Freberg OBITUARY Arlene Anita (Potasky) Freberg, 95, of Newington, died peacefully at home on March 14, 2025 after a long illness. She became the widow of her beloved husband Robert Freberg after 51 years of marriage.
A New Britain native she was the daughter of the late Bruno and Anna (Tutko) Potasky and sister of the late Robert Potasky of Puyallup, WA. Arlene graduated from New Britain High School and was employed at Stanley Works and Reno Machine of Newington where she remained until her retirement many years later. Arlene was a longtime member of Annunciation Parish at The Church of the Holy Spirit, belonged to the Holy Spirit Ladies Guild, and enjoyed playing setback at the Newington Senior Center.
She loved to listen to Big Band and Opera, read mysteries, and watch UConn Women’s basketball. Most of all she loved being a long-term caregiver for her family when she was needed the most. Arlene is survived by her daughter Lynn, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Her family wishes to thank Beverly, Astryd, Tyisha, and AccentCare Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion she was given. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 30th at 11:00 a.m.
at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St.,Newington. Arlene will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Byzantine Cemetery, Osgood Ave.
