A man is in custody this evening on suspicion of possession of a firearm after police were called to Bolton town centre. Officers were called to reports of an attempted break-in at a premises on Bradshawgate. A spokesman for GMP Bolton said: "Officers from the Bolton Town Centre Neighbourhood Team responded.
"Upon arrival, PC Waite and PCSOs Wales and Holden located a suspicious male. He was searched and found in possession of a firearm and power tools. "The male, aged 36, has been arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal, possession of a firearm, and burglary.
"He remains in custody for questioning."
