Assam: 53rd Dairoong Central Rongali Bihu Celebration Concludes

A CORRESPONDENT The 53rd Dairoong Central Rongali Bihu celebration concluded with a two-day programme. On April 21, the main gate of the event was inaugurated in the morning, followed by the hoisting of the Bihu flag, tribute to ancestors, floral homage to the portrait of Rajiv Sadiya, and a communal breakfast. After these, various competitions were held.

On April 22, the cultural procession attracted everyone’s attention. At 6 PM, during the open meeting, winners of the competitions were awarded with cash prizes and certificates. Following this, the Dairoongporiya Samannay Award 2025 was presented to Dairoong-based social worker and prominent businessman Hira Haque and Prakash Agarwala.



In the same event, twenty senior citizens were felicitated for their contributions to education, culture, and social life in Dairoong. Dignitaries present at the event included Press Club President Hemanta Saikia, Social Development Forum’s Chief Secretary and journalist Dhrubajyoti Bora, social worker Anil Saikia, among other eminent personalities. The event was anchored by Manoj Bora and chaired by the celebration President Pramod Phukan.

The cultural evening was inaugurated by Dr Kajal Saikia, Chief General Manager of Human Resources and other departments at Numaligarh Refinery, who praised the efforts to preserve the essence and traditions of Bihu culture that enrich the Assamese national identity through the Dairoong Central Rongali Bihu celebration.
