Quests are the most exciting parts of Naoe’s or Yasuke’s journey. Ubisoft has designed Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a way that it offers a bunch of quests. As players progress through them, the storyline will eventually unfold, offering them the hidden secrets.
However, in the dark world of the game, betrayal cuts deep. The Betrayers is a side quest in AC Shadows. Like always, it’s not compulsory to dive into this side quest, but for those who love challenges, this side quest is perfect.
It tasks them to track and eliminate seven traitors, with each presenting unique obstacles that require distinct strategies. Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Initiating the Hunt Precisely, The Betrayers is a side quest that wants players to hunt down those who worked against Nobunaga across Japan. Each of the seven targets has its specific location.
This side quest triggers after players reach Act 2 of the main story. To begin The Betrayers, players have to make their way to the Omi region and locate Hori Hidemasa near the Mouth of Seta. It’s located in the northwest of the town.
Once players locate him, interact with him, and he will assign the task of eliminating seven betrayers scattered throughout Japan. Before diving into the journey , remember, each of these targets is intricately woven into the narrative and offers an impressive blend of stealth, combat, and moral decision-making. The Betrayers: Target Breakdown—Locations, Strategies, and Rewards Finding out the enemies in the quest marks the toughest part of completing it.
So, here’s the easiest way to find out the enemies and fighting strategies : Location : Izumi Settsu, north of Takatsuki Castle. Strategy : For this boss, players must go for a rooftop assassination. Use parkour abilities to reach the first-floor window and launch a stealth attack.
However, if the boss detects, step back and wait for the situation to get normal before re-attacking him. The recommended level for this fight is 30+. Reward : Ill-Fated String (Epic Bow) Location : Yamazaki Castle, Yamashiro Strategy: Players need to go to the eastern wing of the castle and climb up the stairs to reach Sato.
This enemy is heavily guarded. Use the bushes to hide and sneak around to reach the target. Again, stealth attacks are the best way to catch him off guard.
Reward: Roaring Infamy (Epic Teppo), 320 Mon, quest item Location : Kii Region, near the Kongobuji Temple. Remember, this enemy will be found only after the first two bosses are dead. Strategy : This encounter is particularly confusing.
When players reach the location, they will find Hori Hidemasa and not Endo TomoYasu. Interacting with Hori will reveal that Endo is already dead. If players have been playing as Naoe, it will be her first interaction with Hori.
Now, switch to Yasuke and go to the same place again to talk with the NPC. He will give players information about the remaining betrayers. Reward : 360 Mon (interacting as Naoe with Hori for the first time) Location : Military Harbor, northwest of Azuchi Castle Strategy : Sato Genta is tough to deal with using stealth.
This enemy is surrounded by other samurai in the open. Being a level 41 enemy, he can easily be dealt with by Yasuke's skills at close range. However, those who want to kill him, as Naoe uses a Smoke Bomb to get cover and attack him using stealth.
It’s okay if a single attack isn’t enough to kill him. It will drain a chunk of his health, making it easier to kill him. Reward : Surrender (Epic Katana), 370 Mon Location : Himeji Castle, Harima Region Strategy : This target will be tough to take down, as Naoe.
He is a super agile enemy who is heavily guarded. So, it’s recommended to engage as Yasuke. Not only does he deal massive damage, but he is also a tank who can endure substantial damage.
This fight appears challenging because of the samurai assistants of the boss. Otherwise, this enemy is a level 41 boss who can easily be taken down. Reward : Epic Samurai Daimyo Armor, 320 Mon Location : Outside of Katano Castle, Settsu Region Strategy : Here, players need to make a decision.
Once they reach the castle, don’t engage in battles, as everyone is a civilian there. Find Yoshiko and interact with her. She will tell players the reason behind her betrayal.
After listening to that, it will be up to players to spare her or kill her. No matter what they choose, the quest will progress in the same way. Note : Whether one chooses to kill Yoshiko or not, they must do it after listening to her story.
Before interacting with her, don’t use the weapon on her or anyone. Doing that will lead to desynchronization, as all of the NPCs are civilians there. Reward: 275 Mon (this reward doesn’t depend on the choice) Location : North of the Kameyama Castle, Tamba Region.
Strategy : Once players reach the location, the target will be near the fast travel point. It’s Naoe’s job, so those who are playing as Yasuke must shift to Naoe and approach him from behind. Launch a stealth attack to drain at least half of his health.
The remaining part is going to be tough for a bunch of samurai to appear. In that case, the easiest method is to go for a Smoke Bomb and perform another stealthy assassination to take the enemy down. Rewards : Legendary tanto, Warrior's Garden, and 300 Mon.
The Betrayer Quest Rewards in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Once the betrayers are all successfully dealt with, the side quest will be completed.
