St Peter's Way is one of the busiest roads in the borough, linking traffic from the town centre to the rest of Greater Manchester. The dual carriageway, which forms part of the A666, is under a 50mph speed limit for most of its length.

Average speed cameras are in place for the entire 50mph stretch, but drivers regularly fall foul of the limit . Here are five motorists who have recently been taken to court for breaking the limit . Xhuliano Khalemi, aged 31, was caught driving 28mph over the speed limit in a Volkswagen Polo on the dual carriageway on June 23 last year.



Kalemi, of Rishton Lane, Great Lever, was brought before Manchester Magistrates' Court on January 7. He was fined £660, ordered to pay a surcharge of £264 and costs of £120, as well as given six points on his license. Sophie Hadaway, aged 23, drove a Range Rover at 70mph on St Peter's Way on August 14 last year.

Hadaway, of Otter Drive, Bury, was brought before Manchester Magistrates' on March 7. She was fined £440, ordered to pay a surcharge of £176 and costs of £120 , as well as being given five points on her license. Ilyas, of Arley Avenue, Bury, was brought before Manchester Magistrates' on March 28. The motorist was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge of £88 and costs of £120, as well as being given three points. Jason Hart, aged 49, drove a Peugeot 2008 at 63mph on St Peter's Way on August 4 last year.

Hart, of Moorside Avenue, Farnworth, was brought before Manchester Magistrates' on March 4. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay an £88 surcharge and costs of £120, as well as being given three points. Allan Murrell, aged 55, drove a Porsche Cayman GTS on the road at 64mph on August 10 last year.

Murrell, of Medway Close, Leigh, was brought before Manchester Magistrates' on March 4. He was fined £72, ordered to pay a £28 surcharge and was given three points..
