Babil Khan Says He Got 'Addicted' To Attention After Father Irrfan Khan's Demise: Saw So May People Loving Me

Babil Khan recently revealed that he became emotionally dependent on public attention after the passing of his father, Irrfan Khan. He shared that the overwhelming love and support from people made him feel seen during a time of deep personal loss.

Everyone deals with grief differently. For Babil Khan, son of the legendary actor Irrfan Khan, it was the outpouring of love from his father’s fans that he found solace in. In a recent interview, he opened up about this and admitted that he grew attached to the spotlight following the loss.

Babil, who became an overnight sensation through his Instagram posts, said the overwhelming support from so many people brought him comfort and emotional strength during that difficult time. After baba passed away, I got a lot of attention and it was very addictive. I saw so many people loving me. I always wanted to be loved right since my childhood.

It all happened so suddenly and I didn’t realise that I was getting addicted to it." He further opened up, “At that time, I felt that I was gently and kindly moving towards the world [of attention]. But the truth is that I was letting my self-worth depend on the validation and opinion of others.

Over time, life started teaching me that." Irrfan Khan's Demise Irrfan, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, and The Lunchbox, passed away on April 29, 2020. He was 53.

He had been battling a neuroendocrine tumour since 2018. The actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital a day before his death due to a colon infection. He is survived by kids Babil and Ayaan and wife Sutapa Sikdar.
