IPL franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) have confirmed that their New Zealand allrounder Glenn Phillips is going to miss the remainder of the tournament due to an injury. Though Phillips had not played a single match this season, he sustained an injury while fielding against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Phillips had this injury during GT’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6.
Phillips was brought in as a substitute fielder after the fifth over. However, he hurt himself on the fourth ball, and limped off the field.Despite being in the squad, Phillips did not appear in the playing XI for any match.
In the SRH match, GT went with Sherfane Rutherford’s batting as impact substitute.Adding to GT’s tension, South African Kagiso Rabada is also not available, as he has returned home to attend personal matter. It is not known as of now whether Rabada will rejoin the team this season.
Gujarat Titans had initially taken 7 overseas players for IPL 2025. Since two are currently unavailable, the team is left with only Jo Buttler, Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Karim Janat, and Gerald Coetzee.Even after being affected with setbacks, GT has been the among the most consistent team this season.
