Vadodara: A bamboo scaffolding used for façade work on a new hospital building collapsed on Saturday evening, injuring two commuters who were passing by on a motorcycle. The accident occurred near the Vishal Complex on Church Road, a busy area witnessing heavy traffic. The building under construction, intended to house a hospital, is located in close proximity to the Vishal Complex.
The scaffolding had been erected for work on the building's façade, but it suddenly gave way, falling onto the road below. Nitin Rathwa (35) and his daughter Runisha (4) were travelling on a motorcycle when the scaffolding came crashing down on them. The duo suffered injuries and were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
Sources mentioned that the traffic around the area has been especially heavy due to ongoing flyover construction work linking Prabha Road to the Godhra bus stand. To facilitate this project, traffic has been diverted to Church Road and the Vishal Complex area, which likely increased congestion in the vicinity. The cause of the scaffolding collapse is still under investigation, and local authorities are looking into whether safety protocols were followed during the construction process.
