A man with a history of bank robbery is back behind bars after police arrested him in connection with the April 21 armed robbery of Summerville United Bank. Brandon Evan Williams was taken into custody without incident on April 23 with help from the U.S.

Marshals Task Force. Williams is charged with robbery/entering a bank with intent to steal and is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. Authorities say Williams entered the bank at approximately 11:45 a.



m. Monday and demanded money from a teller. While he did not display a weapon, he implied he was armed before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported. Summerville Police Chief Doug Wright praised the department’s quick response. “I commend our investigators for their diligence,” he said.

“They identified this suspect within hours of the commission of this crime and immediately began searching for him.” Williams is known to local law enforcement. In January 2017, he was arrested for robbing the SunTrust Bank on North Main Street and later served a federal prison sentence.

He was released this past February. The investigation prompted a multi-agency response, including K-9 search efforts. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and U.
