Barbara D. Washburn OBITUARY Barbara Dunlop Washburn, (97) lifelong resident of Manchester CT, passed away on April 18, 2025 at The Manchester Manor Healthcare Center. As Barbara would say “It was her time.

” Barbara was born on December 24, 1927, the daughter of Robert and Kathleen (Lily) Dunlop. Her parents immigrated from Northern Ireland and instilled in Barbara a lifelong love of anything Irish. A 1946 graduate of Manchester High School, Barbara enjoyed serving on reunion committees with her classmates.



She worked in retail for many years and ended her career as a switchboard operator at the Savings Bank of Manchester. Barbara was a proud member of the former St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

She was a member of the Girl’s Friendly and especially enjoyed working at the White Elephant Booth at the May Fair. She was very outgoing with a great sense of humor. She always had a smile on her face.

Barbara is survived by her children Linda Washburn (Debra) of South Carolina, Mark Washburn (Patti) of Massachusetts, and Rod Anderson (Gwen) and their family of Washington State. Additionally she is survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Matt) Washburn, Eamon (Nicole) Washburn, and three great grandsons, Joshua Lederer, and Bennett & Beckham Washburn. She also leaves behind two close friends, Judy Ferlazo and Carolyn Parrott.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Marylou Morrison, a lifelong friend who was taken in by Robert and Kathleen and raised as Barbara’s sister. The family will welcome guests for visitation on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
