The Bay Area's weather will shift from sunshine to overcast with light rain and strong winds over the weekend, per NWS forecast.

Bay Area residents are in for a week of contrasting skies, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Francisco. The NWS forecast foresees an initial bout of sunshine giving way to cooler, blustery conditions. The NWS forecast predicts a stretch of "nice weather" with temperatures slightly above the usual for this time of year, followed by overcast skies and stronger winds accompanied by light rain over the weekend.

In the short term, those inland can expect temperatures to rise into the mid to upper 70s, while coastal inhabitants will likely see the mercury hover in the low 60s. The NWS San Francisco points out that the high-pressure area leads to a "shallow marine layer," which might offer a "fantastic sunset" with the infusion of high-level moisture later in the evening. However, a dense fog advisory has been raised for Monterey Bay and surrounding areas through 10 AM, reminding locals to be careful as "sudden changes in visibility will result in hazardous driving and boating conditions," according to a social media post from NWS Bay Area.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect thru 10am for areas in/around Monterey Bay, as well as the Northern Salinas Valley, the Carmel Valley & the Hollister Area. Be sure to exercise caution as sudden changes in visibility will result in hazardous driving and boating conditions. #cawx pic.

Light, beneficial rain may come Friday night into Saturday morning, with "some lingering post-frontal showers possible Saturday afternoon.

" The real story might be the winds; gusts could reach 35-45 mph on Saturday, leading to a decent chance for a wind advisory..
