Bay Area Weather Alert: Dense Fog Advisory and Minor Heat Risk Issued for North Bay and Inland Areas

Foggy conditions and a heat risk advisory have put the Bay Area's weather on notice. As per a National Weather Service San Francisco update, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 AM for the North Bay Interior Valleys, with visibility dropping to less than a quarter mile at times. The same report warns of a minor heat risk, particularly for sensitized individuals in inland areas.

The inland warmth is expected to prevail through Tuesday before a cooldown later in the week. The fog, causing dance in pockets around the region, makes driving conditions and navigating hazardous. Those in the North Bay might face the thickest treks, leading to a sunny afternoon with high temperatures nearing 80 degrees for Santa Rosa, Livermore, and San Jose.



Coastal areas, however, will experience milder summer-like weather in the 60s.The NWS forecast discussion indicates a shift toward cooler temperatures from Wednesday onwards. A marine layer compressing to around 500 feet should result in clearer skies on Tuesday, followed by upper-level moisture that could bring high cloud cover and additional cooling on Thursday.

The arrival of a deeper trough by Friday carries with it the potential for light rain and stronger onshore winds.Marine conditions are also taking a turn, according to the NWS, with north-to-northwest winds intensifying and a north swell building in the northern outer waters. With the winds possibly reaching gale force at times in the midweek, mariners should brace for choppier seas ahead.

As the layered fog silently blankets the water's embrace, it hides the strengthening forces beneath that build toward the climax of midweek gusts.For a more daily snapshot, the 7-day detailed forecast promises a sunny today reaching a high near 71, with calm winds picking up in the afternoon. The rest of the week displays a cool descent into partly sunny days with temperatures peaking in the low 60s and overnight lows hovering around the 50s, culminating in a sunny Sunday with a high near 66 to close the week.
