FAIRFIELD — Over the five months the winter shelter was open, BayNorth Church of Christ's winter shelter program assisted 78 unhoused residents who spent at least one night there. Overall, six unhoused residents moved into longer term housing solutions with three moving into temporary housing and three moving into permanent housing. During March, the last month of the program, there was an overall 101% utilization rate.
Seventy-seven percent of those nights were utilized by unhoused males and 23% were utilized by unhoused females. Over the five months, there was an 80% utilization rate. Participants were provided with a shower, a hot meal, a warm and safe place to rest for the night, and some food to take with them to go in the morning.
