A young bear is off on a new adventure, after conservation officials tranquillized and trapped it in the city’s west end on Thursday. Conservation officials from the National Capital Commission carted off the slumbering beast midday after it was found in Kanata North. The bear was expected to be relocated about 200 km from the city, in a similar environment to Ottawa’s.
The bear was a juvenile and likely exploring not long after separating from its mother. Conservation officials recommend residents keep their garbage and bird seed secured at this time of year, as bears are more actively looking for food.
