And obviously it was going to, and I didn’t really understand that at the time.” The actor admitted that they were not fully equipped to handle the level of attention their announcement would attract. “And I wasn’t really prepared for that,” they said.

However, Ramsey also noted that the decision had positive effects. They acknowledged how people have shared that their representation was helpful. The actor said, “People have said to me that it’s been very helpful for them seeing some representation.

” Despite the varied reactions, Ramsey ultimately feels that coming out was a good decision for them personally. They said, “Overall, I think it was a good thing, just for me living more freely, without feeling like I’m keeping a secret.”While Ramsey is open to discussing their gender identity, they emphasized that they don’t want it to define them.

The actor doesn’t want it to become the sole focus of their life or career, encouraging others to be “chill” about it. The Last of Us star came out as non-binary and gender-fluid in 2023 and uses they/them pronouns.
