PETALING JAYA: Blood stains were discovered in a room and toilet at the home of the deceased autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, at Block R, Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai.Senior investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Mohd Hafizee Ismail, 38, said a luminol test used to detect traces of blood at the home was conducted on Dec 9, 2023.The 28th prosecution witness in the child neglect trial involving Zayn Rayyan's parents said he had gone to the scene at 9.

30pm and carried out investigations with the forensic unit until 2am.During examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zahirudin, Hafizee said the blood stain swabs were sent to the Chemistry Department."I recorded the statement of the second accused (Zayn Rayyan's mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf).

She said that the deceased had bled from his nose and would usually wipe his mucus and blood on the wall in the room or around the house."Ismanira said the deceased had also bled when he played with a shaver in the toilet."However, the results of the blood stains found in the toilet belonged to the first accused, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, according to the chemistry report," he said.

Hafizee did not, however, elaborate on the blood stains found in the room.At the time, Hafizee was attached to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department (CID).He is now the intelligence and operations senior officer at the Klang Selatan district police headquarters' CID, a position he has held since November last year.

Earlier, Hafizee said he had noticed a pair of black shoes covered in soil in the house and instructed that they be marked and photographed for investigation."I also ordered the forensic unit to take soil samples from the area where the deceased's body was found, to be sent to the department for analysis," he said.Zayn Rayyan went missing on Dec 5, 2023, before his body was discovered on a sandbank by a stream the next day.

Questioned by Raja Zaizul Faridah on why the soil samples were taken, Hafizee said he wanted to compare the soil on the shoes with that from where the deceased's body was found. The trial before Sessions Court judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh continues. Also appearing for the prosecution were deputy public prosecutors Aqharie Abdul Aziz and Nur Sabrina Zubairi.

The couple, both aged 30, are represented by lawyers Haresh Mahadevan and Ramzani Idris. They claimed trial to a jointly amended charge of neglect, as persons having the care of Zayn Rayyan, 6, for allegedly neglecting him in a manner likely to cause him physical injury. They were accused of committing the offence from 12pm on Dec 5, 2023, until about 9.
