The Toronto Blue Jays will be a little shorthanded on the infield Thursday night in Anaheim. Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that second baseman Andres Gimenez got a precautionary MRI on his quad after leaving Wednesday's game in the seventh inning with right quad tightness. Gimenez is being listed as day-to-day for now and will not be in the starting lineup for the series finale against the Angels.

Gimenez appeared to suffer the injury after legging out an infield single. Schneider and other members of the Blue Jays went to check on him, but he stayed in the game and ultimately scored on the ensuing rally. He was later replaced at second base by Ernie Clement, who slid over from third base.

Gimenez is batting .195 on the season with a .575 OPS and three home runs.

In other Jays news, Schneider said that Jose Urena will remain in the starting rotation and start Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Urena made his Blue Jays debut in Tuesday's series opener against the Angels. He started the game and gave up four hits and two earned runs while striking out four over 4.
