Tasmania Police has opened an investigation into the death of a pedestrian after a body was found on a major highway north of Hobart in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police say a patrol unit found the person lying on the road near the south-bound lanes of the Brooker Highway near Montrose Bay High School during police rounds at about 4am. The death is being treated as suspicious First responders provided CPR, but the person could not be revived.
The southbound lanes of the Brooker Highway have now re-opened to traffic but the Montrose Foreshore remains closed to the public Anyone with any information should contact police on 131 444 or report to Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au.
